Verizon sucks at Photoshop: confuses the Droid X for an iPhone

Man, Motorola's not going to be pleased about this! The Droid X is justifiably one of Verizon's marquee devices for this holiday season and takes pride of place on the carrier's Cyber Monday offers page, but wait... why does its screen display the iPhone version of Google Maps? Oops!

[Thanks, Chris]

Sony Ericsson exec drops more PlayStation Phone hints

CEO Bert Nordberg says "There's a lot of smoke, and I tell you there must be a fire somewhere."

Since March, 2010 has percolated with speculation about a PlayStation-branded phone being in the works at Sony Ericsson. Today, the chief executive of the company, a joint venture between Sony and Swedish cell phone-maker Ericsson, dropped a major hint that such a product is in the pipeline.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Sony Ericsson CEO Bert Nordberg responded to rumors of a PlayStation-branded phone thusly: "There's a lot of smoke, and I tell you there must be a fire somewhere. Sony has an extremely strong offering in the gaming market, and that's very interesting."

Nordberg's comments come less than a month after a series of purported PlayStation Phone photos surfaced. Unconfirmed reports had the device running games made for the Android mobile operating system but with a PSP Go-like control layout with the four iconic PlayStation buttons, start/select buttons, a D pad, and shoulder buttons. The device also appeared to have touchpad with two sensors where thumbsticks would normally be, and a touchpad on its rear.

Three weeks ago, another Sony executive also hinted that a PlayStation Phone was in the works. Speaking to analysts following Sony's most recent earnings report, Sony CFO Masaru Kato did hint that Sony is working on a product--or products--to tackle the burgeoning mobile gaming market.

"I cannot be specific as to how we will introduce [a] new product to address these markets, but one thing I can say is that we have those markets addressed, and we will come out with products and services to capture the broader [mobile] gaming market," Kato said.

Mila Kunis Bans Her Dad From 'Black Swan' Sex Scenes

'I don't think any dad should see,' she tells MTV News. 'It's just not necessary.'
By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

It seems the only thing anyone can talk about when it comes to "Black Swan" is the much-hyped sex scene between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis. Even Kunis and her dad found themselves discussing the nitty-gritty details.

Their conversation amounted to this: Mr. Kunis was banned from watching the scenes in question.

"He was like, 'I don't think I should see the movie,' " Kunis told MTV News. "I was like, 'See the movie. There's going to be a point; get up and leave.' "

And so that's exactly what happened. When the no-holds-barred sex session came up — a scene Portman previously told us was "not explicit in any way," but which is undeniably steamy — Kunis gave her dad the signal, and off he went. "I don't think any dad should see. It's just not necessary," she explained.

While Kunis avoided some familial awkwardness in that situation, she's found it more than a little uncomfortable to constantly discuss the sex scene with the press. "Doing [the scene], you never judge your character, so you always have justification for it," the 27-year-old said. "When you do it, it makes sense while you're doing it. You don't feel like it's you doing it."

She added, "The more I talk about it, the more I have to think about it. We never discussed it. It was like the pink elephant in the room that was never touched upon until it was the day to shoot. Then we just did it really quickly and called it a day."

Check out everything we've got on "Black Swan."

Verizon hosting 4G LTE news conference tomorrow to discuss launch plans

Guess what people, Verizon's LTE network launch is really for real and the carrier has now scheduled a news conference for tomorrow where it'll discuss its December plans in more detail. Tony Melone, VZW's chief tech officer, will be on hand to answer any questions beyond the already known plans for 38 metropolitan areas to get the 4G LTE treatment -- accounting for a cool 110 million Americans who'll be able to ride the lightning of faster internet speeds on the move. The event kicks off at 12PM and we'll make sure to tune in, if only to find out what Tony's answer is to the inevitable "what is 4G" question.

[Thanks, Henry]

Panasonic welcoming crash test consumers to the handheld gaming Jungle

In an interesting move for a major console launch, Panasonic is reaching outside of the fold and looking to some select US consumers to test out its upcoming Jungle gaming handheld. No details on the testing program were given, and it's not much in the way of news, but it's the most we've heard out of Panasonic since it announced the online gaming-centric handheld in October -- we still don't know when the Jungle will land or how much it will cost. At least Panasonic isn't short on self-assessment: "We know other companies out there have traditional hand- held gaming covered... We're doing something very different." You can't argue with that, we'll just have to wait and see if Panasonic can pull it off.

?Airplane!? Director David Zucker Remembers Leslie Nielsen

Leslie Nielsen Nov. 30As director, writer and producer of the 1979 film Airplane!, David Zucker not only gave Leslie Nielsen?s career a second chance when he cast him in the film, but also gained a friend.

OK! GALLERY: REMEMBERING LESLIE NIELSEN; AIRPLANE! ACTOR DIES AT 84

After Leslie passed away on Sunday at the age of 84 due to complications from pneumonia, David sat down and wrote a tribute story in his honor for the The Hollywood Reporter on Monday.

?It was summer 1979, a full three weeks before the start of shooting for Airplane! and our casting director had finally had enough,? David began his tribute to Leslie. ?Lloyd Bridges, Robert Stack, Peter Graves and now Leslie ? who??

?At least audiences had heard of the first three, but this guy ? it was true, when it came time to select an actor to play Dr. Rumack, my brother Jerry, Jim Abrahams and I remembered: ?This one guy, he?s been in hundreds of television shows, and I think he played the captain of the Poseidon. What?s his name?? Our research revealed that the actor?s name was Leslie Nielsen,? he explained. ?Jim, Jerry and I were thrilled when he agreed to meet, not because he was ?funny? but because of his long rsum of serious films and TV.?

David thought Leslie was perfect for the role.

?At our first meeting, he mentioned proudly that he had done an episode of M*A*S*H*. We assured him we wouldn?t count this brief comedy experience against him. But when he read the Airplane! script, he ?got? its unconventional nature and offbeat style,? David wrote. ?We heard later that he told his agent, ?Take whatever they offer; I?d pay them to do this.??

?Arguably the best role was that of Dr. Rumack, played by the guy no one wanted or ever suspected would be funny, much less go on to have a second career starring in feature films as a goofball comic,? David added. ?Leslie was great in the role because he never ?winked? ? let on that he knew he was in a comedy. This was essential to the style, and Leslie had a natural instinct for it.?

Together, David and Leslie continued to filmed an Airplane! sequel, several Naked Gun films and a Police Squad TV series.

?He always knew he was doing OK because ?I could hear David laughing during the take,? he would say. And I was! Tough to just sit there silently during ?Nice beaver!?Tough to just sit there silently during ?Nice beaver!?? David said of laughing on set while Leslie was acting. ?Offscreen, he wasn?t so much of a joke or storyteller but a chronic prankster. The stories are legion about the fart machine, which he kept hidden and sprang on any hapless stranger who approached him. He used it on set, on talk shows, anywhere he could find a victim. One time, at a press junket in Charlotte, I remember watching Leslie let loose with the device on a crowded elevator, the other occupants squirming up against the walls in an effort to distance themselves. And just like the scenes we put him in, he never broke character, never let on that he knew he was being funny.?

OK! NEWS: STARS TWEET TRIBUTES TO LESLIE NIELSEN ? ?SHIRLEY, HE WILL BE MISSED?

David always tried to put Leslie in his films.

?We invariably would get to discussing our history together, reminiscing a bit and renewing our good-natured debate about who the hell was luckier to have met the other, Leslie Nielsen or the Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker team,? he wrote. ?The truth was, all of us knew how grateful we were to have each other in our lives, both professionally and personally, and we expressed it to each other often.?

?Leslie was grateful for everything in his life (most especially his wife Barbaree), almost as though he didn?t feel he deserved any of it,? David shared. ?Maybe that?s why he was so happy. And maybe that?s why he was so good at making everyone else happy.?

Black Eyed Peas Were 'Still Passionate' For The Beginning

'For every ending is a new beginning,' will.i.am says of the band's new album.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Tim Kash

The last album the Black Eyed Peas released was called The E.N.D., but the album didn't signify the end for the band, instead it launched the band into a whole new era where they embraced futuristic club jams and became chart-topping sensations. On Tuesday (November 30), the group is hoping to rekindle that magic with their latest release, The Beginning.

"Because the last record was The E.N.D. [and] for every ending is a new beginning that's why it's The Energy Never Dies, " will.i.am told MTV News on the red carpet of the AMAs earlier this month. "We're still showing you the energy, so let's call it The Beginning."

Just like their last, the Peas wanted this album to express the world around them, Will explained. "The E.N.D. was a zeitgeist of the time, articulating that it's the end of the era," he continued. "We're still passionate about music, so The Beginning [is] utilizing all the technologies, doing new things. Stuff like that, that's The Beginning."

Apl.de.ap said the group — which was just announced as next year's Super Bowl halftime act — also looked at their competitors for inspiration. "Also going out, we try and check out the scene, the city and be inspired by other producers or other DJs, what kind of stuff they're playing," he explained. "So that's how we keep fresh."

Leading lady Fergie explained how easy it was to record while on the road. "I mean you have to realize this album was made on tour," she said. "Basically these guys have hotel rooms with studios in them. Now technology has allowed us to make albums in hotel rooms. They'd leave their doors open, and I'd walk in [and just start singing]."

And even though they've been around the block a few times, Taboo said it's important for them to feel like this really is still The Beginning for BEP. "[We have to] stay hungry and keep wanting to push the envelope," he said. "Don't be comfortable and settle. Will says once you start slacking off, there's someone that's hungrier than you. You have to stay hungry."

What's your favorite Black Eyed Peas song? Talk about it in the comments.

Steve Ballmer looking into removal of Drive Extender from Windows Home Server

Steve Ballmer looking into removal of Drive Extender from Windows Home Server
Windows Home Server hasn't exactly taken the consumer market by storm, showing yet again that people are more interested in shiny new toys than protecting their precious data. Still, there's been a huge amount of negative backlash from Microsoft's recent decision to drop Drive Extender from the next release of WHS, currently codenamed Vail. Drive Extender is the tech that enables multiple physical disks to act as a single logical volume, making it easy for even non-techy folks to add more and enable data replication. Terry Walsh over at We Got Served was similarly taken aback by the decision and took the opportunity to drop a note to Big Poppa Steve Ballmer. He got a response:
From: Steve Ballmer
Sent: 26 November 2010 05:30
To: Terry Walsh
Subject: RE: MVP Feedback - Windows Home Server "Vail" Crisis
Let's look into it
Yes, it's a short response, and it course could mean anything or, indeed, nothing, but it is at least a response and a positive sign that the huge outcry among fans of Windows Home Server can indeed make its way to the top of the executive chain. Now we just wait to see what comes rolling back down...

Lenovo teases S800 phone with translucent color display, won't let anyone touch it

Step aside, Sony Ericsson, your Xperia Pureness has been beaten at its own game by an enigmatic new handset that Lenovo has been showing off over in China. The above images come from a Beijing fashion event, where Lenovo chose to debut its S800 featurephone with a color translucent display. It looks to still be at the concept stage, one that not many of these luxury items seem to ever exit, but lest you think it's not for real, the models showing it off at the show were photographed backstage using the lustworthy piece of glass to do whatever it is that models do with their phones. Check out the links below for more.
